SYNOPSIS

Dorian Gray was written by Oscar Wilde, and reflects his sense of hidden secrets and having a skeleton in the cupboard.
Society in London was shocked when the secret came out, and Dorian had a worse secret. The beautiful young Dorian was painted by Basil, the favourite portrait painter of Sir Henry and the darling of all London. He was innocent and sweet natured until he made a dreadful swap; his soul for eternal youth. The price of vanity was the loss of humanity. The first love of his life, Elizabeth had her turn; but instead of marriage he tricked her and left her alone with a child. He gradually sank lower and lower, until he exceeded even his mentor Sir Henry in depravity.
Interspersed throughout with the witticisms of Oscar 'I have nothing to declare but my genius' Wilde, the play crackles along at a fast pace, and is shown as part of the Olde Tyme Music Hall, complete with comedians, songs and the smell of cigars and oysters.
